Position Summary

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso beverages, and specialty drinks while creating a warm, welcoming, and memorable guest experience at New Morning Breakfast, Brunch & Bubbly.

As an important part of our hospitality team, the Barista sets the tone for our guests' experience through friendly service, attention to detail, efficiency, and a positive attitude. This position requires a passion for hospitality, consistency in beverage preparation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced breakfast and brunch environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Hospitality

• Greet every guest with a warm, friendly, and welcoming attitude.


• Provide attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient service.


• Assist guests with beverage selections and make thoughtful recommendations.


• Create positive guest interactions that encourage repeat visits.


• Maintain a professional, upbeat attitude throughout service.


• Address guest questions, special requests, and concerns promptly and professionally.

Coffee & Beverage Preparation

• Prepare and serve espresso beverages, brewed coffee, iced coffee, cold brew, teas, and other specialty beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards.


• Ensure consistency in beverage quality, taste, temperature, portioning, and presentation.


• Operate and maintain espresso machines, coffee grinders, brewers, and other beverage equipment.


• Maintain knowledge of coffee offerings, ingredients, flavor profiles, and beverage preparation techniques.


• Prepare specialty seasonal beverages and featured menu offerings.


• Coordinate with servers and other team members to ensure beverages are prepared accurately and delivered promptly.


• Promote specialty coffee beverages and recommend menu pairings when appropriate.

Daily Operations & Organization

• Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked coffee station.


• Complete all assigned opening, closing, and shift-side work duties.


• Monitor product levels and restock coffee, milk, syrups, garnishes, cups, and other supplies.


• Properly label, date, store, and rotate products according to food safety standards.


• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all beverage equipment, countertops, and work areas.


• Follow established recipes, portion controls, and inventory procedures to minimize waste.


• Communicate equipment concerns, maintenance needs, and product shortages to management.

Teamwork & Service Efficiency

• Work collaboratively with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to provide a seamless guest experience.


• Maintain speed, accuracy, and consistency during busy breakfast and brunch periods.


• Prioritize beverage orders to support timely service.


• Communicate effectively and assist team members wherever needed.


• Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and accountability.


• Participate in training and maintain current knowledge of menu offerings, promotions, and company standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous barista, coffee shop, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred.


• Experience preparing espresso-based beverages strongly preferred.


• Strong communication and guest service skills.


• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a high-volume environment.


• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.


• Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays.


• Willingness to learn and consistently follow established recipes and service standards.


• Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and exceptional hospitality.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.


• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.


• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.


• Ability to work safely around hot liquids, beverage equipment, and food preparation areas.
