The ideal Bartender is passionate about craft beer and has an extensive knowledge of craft beer; including the making of craft beer, the different styles of craft beer, and believes in the positive impact local craft breweries can have on their community.
The bartender must be available afternoons, evenings, late evenings, and events. The Bartender should be looking for consistent, regular hours.
Position Summary: Greet and wait on guests providing the highest level of service. Pour draft beer, wine, and prepare drinks containing liquor. Operate the point of sale system, serve and bus food and drinks to guests, as well as maintain a sanitary and clean environment. Bartenders are responsible for checking valid identification of guests who appear under the age of 35 to ensure they meet the minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcohol products. It is also imperative that this position never over serves a guest alcohol.
Position Purpose: To responsibly sell and serve alcoholic beverages to guests that are of legal drinking age and to maintain a clean and orderly taproom, all while in compliance with legal requirements.
Position Tasks:
Clocks In and Out when scheduled.
Communicates with management on when supplies are low or out.
Has authority to refuse to serve a guest whether for intoxication or disorderly conduct.
Utilizes proper pours.
Restocks bar supplies and products.
Maintains a safe work environment at all times.
Informs guests about current beers.
Maintains cleanliness of taproom and lounge areas, bar top, chairs, and equipment.
Maintains and cleans all liquor and draft beer control devices.
Greets customers in a courteous and professional fashion.
Knows upcoming beers and their talking points prior to them being tapped.
Sets up taproom prior to opening as well as closing
Checks opening inventory and any shortages or changes.
Pours and serves alcoholic beverages to individuals of legal age guests and serves food to taproom guests.
Rotates and restocks taproom coolers, as well as wine and liquor stock
Reports any problems or issues to the manager on duty.
Maintains security of all taproom supplies and products.
Position Qualifications:
Prior experience as a bartender in a high volume establishment.
Thorough knowledge of craft beer. Cicerone, BJCP, or other beer specific certification is a plus.
Ability to multi-task and serve several guests in a short period of time.
Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and events.
Knowledgeable of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
Professional communication skills required.
Ability to take direction, develop and work in a team environment.
Works calmly and executes job duties effectively under pressure.
Accountable, self-motivated, organized and utilizing problem solving skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift/move 160 lbs.
