Bindery Utility Operator

JOB SUMMARY

The Bindery Utility Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining bindery equipment to produce high-quality finished printed materials. This role ensures jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with customer specifications and company standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES

• Set up and operate bindery equipment such as cutters, folders, stitchers, collators, and binding machines
• Read and interpret job tickets to ensure accurate production specifications
• Perform machine adjustments and troubleshooting to maintain quality and efficiency
• Monitor machine performance and output to meet production and quality targets
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards
• Package completed jobs according to instructions
• Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment clean and in good working order
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Assist with material handling and other production tasks as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1–3 years bindery or similar equipment experience
• Ability to independently set up and run at least one machine type
• Mechanical aptitude required 
• Ability to read job instructions and follow directions accurately
• Strong attention to detail and quality

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs regularly
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Fast-paced manufacturing/production environment
• Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and paper dust
