Job Description - Board Certified Behavioral Analyst


Position Title: Board Certified Behavioral Analyst   

Exempt or Non-Exempt: Exempt

Program Assignment: Autism Services; Community-Based Services 

Assignment Location: 3111 N Michigan, Pittsburg, KS. 66762   

Scheduled Hours: Full-Time, Salaried

Supervised by: Director of Children's Services 

Supervises: None       

Position Description:

The Board Certified Behavioral Analyst has primary responsibility to provide support to individuals and their families by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analyses and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills. The Board Certified Behavioral Analyst may provide clinical direction to the case management team, as needed, to inform the delivery of treatment interventions. This is accomplished through direct contact with the client, case conferences, and treatment team meetings. 


Requirements

Credential and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in ABA or related human service field.
  • Certified as a BCBA for a minimum of 2 years, unless prior approval is granted by the Executive Director. 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Pass pre-employment background checks. 
  • Familiarity and/or knowledge of individuals with autism.
  • Successful completion of internship and/or formal training in the analysis of behavior and instructional strategies related to working with clients who have pervasive developmental disorders and related disorders, their parents, and other agencies working with clients.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skills, instructional skills, oral and written. communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to work with a variety of clients in regard to age, functionality, and with minimal direction.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Obtain Certification for Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training. MOAB is an in-depth training program that teaches individuals how to recognize, reduce, and manage violent and aggressive behavior. Training provided.

  • MOAB training requires controlled movements, body positioning, and the ability to perform physical holds and restraint techniques.
  • The focus of MOAB training is to use techniques that can be effectively applied by employees of varying physical capabilities while minimizing potential harm to both the individual being restrained and the trained themselves.
  • First Aid CPR Certification.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Required to follow dress code policies of any alternative work locations, including but not limited to schools, jails, courts, detention centers, other community partners, etc. 
  • Bill Direct ABA-approved codes.
  • Conduct Parent Training.
  • Conduct Assessments (ADOS, CARS, VB-MAPP, and ABLLS, etc.) All tests and assessments that apply to the position and credentials.
  • Provide supplemental developmental services to clients with a developmental diagnosis or Autism Spectrum Diagnosis 
  • Network with community partners regarding Autism services
  • Develop Autism programming 
  • Attend Smart training by a certified trainer
  • Collaborate with coordinators and other departments to ensure continuity of care for children with an Autism Diagnosis 
  • Assist with diagnostics for children with a potential Autism diagnosis
  • Provides individualized support services to families.
  • Conducts observations at schools, homes, and/or other locations to offer suggestions to assist and benefit both the consumer and staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, to conduct functional assessments and analyses when appropriate, and to develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors. 
  • Gather and document all relevant information regarding a client, via diagnostic (biopsychosocial assessment) interview to produce an accurate diagnosis, presenting problem and challenges that will be the medically necessary focus for treatment services and interventions. The evaluation includes an assessment of areas of need in life domains that without remediation or assistance is a barrier to recovery for the client. 
  • The client, in partnership with designated and relevant participants, will create a comprehensive treatment plan, which addresses and lists medically necessary treatment interventions in response to treatment goals and objectives necessary to remediate assessed mental disorders and related concerns. The Board Certified Behavioral Analyst will provide referrals for center and community resources as needed. The Board Certified Behavioral Analyst will assess the need for on-going treatment, utilizing measurement-based tools, and will review and update the plan with the client, every 90 days. 
  • Conduct treatment interventions directly with the client based on scope of practice. Services may be provided in the office setting or in community settings based on the individual’s needs. Continuously assess client progress and the response to treatment interventions and activities.
  • Coordinate with Qualified Mental Health Professional in evaluation of a plan of discharge. Assess with the client what medical and mental conditions will be resolved; what constitutes resolution and the goals and objectives that must be met to serve as criteria for discharge from treatment. Continuously assess client progress toward this goal. Document in the medical record progress toward this goal and at discharge, complete a written summary of treatment activities, including the client’s progress, prognosis, and recommendations for follow up including any referrals made. 
  • Monitor the utilization of treatment resources on behalf of clients. Ensure that treatment resources are being effectively utilized, are appropriate and are medically necessary. Participate in center utilization review activities and in peer review. This includes but is not limited to reviewing the medical records of clients assigned to other teams to monitor appropriateness of treatment and providing feedback.
  • Responsible for the complete and timely written record of all treatment activities, services, and interventions conducted for each client. This includes a review of related documentation by service providers, as needed, to ensure adherence to treatment plans. Will complete demographic and other updates in the electronic health record as needed.
  • Required to meet department productivity standards and documentation standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to get on the floor and rise without assistance
  • Have full mobility in both arms and shoulders.
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to move freely in the community and in a wide variety of circumstances. Special accommodation that can successfully assist an incumbent will be provided.

Additional Helpful Qualifications:

  • Additional duties as necessary and as assigned by immediate supervisor.
