The Bowling Attendant – Canyon Lanes is responsible for providing friendly, efficient, and attentive guest service while supporting the daily operations of Canyon Lanes. This role assists guests with lane assignments, reservations, bowling equipment, scoring systems, food and beverage orders, and general bowling needs while maintaining clean, safe, and organized guest areas. The Bowling Attendant processes bowling and food and beverage transactions, monitors lane activity, supports parties, leagues, tournaments, and special events, and helps create an enjoyable and welcoming entertainment experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists guests with lane assignments, reservations, bowling equipment, scoring systems, food and beverage selections, and general questions regarding Canyon Lanes services.
- Greets guests and provides prompt, professional, and courteous service throughout their Canyon Lanes experience.
- Takes and accurately enters food and beverage orders into the point-of-sale system.
- Processes bowling, food, and beverage transactions, including cash, credit, comps, discounts, and other approved forms of payment.
- Prepares, assembles, packages, and serves food and beverage items in accordance with established recipes, presentation standards, and department procedures.
- Delivers food and beverage orders to bowling lanes, seating areas, party areas, and other designated guest locations.
- Verifies that orders are accurate and complete, including appropriate utensils, napkins, condiments, and other requested items.
- Provides guests with bowling shoes and other equipment and ensures items are properly collected, cleaned, sanitized, and stored after use.
- Provides accurate information regarding pricing, lane availability, menu items, operating procedures, promotions, leagues, tournaments, and special events.
- Monitors bowling lanes, scoring systems, ball returns, food service equipment, and related equipment for proper operation and promptly reports malfunctions or maintenance concerns.
- Provides basic assistance with scoring systems, bowling equipment, and food and beverage service equipment within the scope of assigned training and responsibilities.
- Follows established food safety, sanitation, handwashing, glove use, allergen awareness, and temperature-control procedures.
- Monitors lane activity and guest areas to promote safe use of bowling equipment and compliance with Canyon Lanes rules and procedures.
- Responds to guest questions and concerns in a professional and timely manner and refers issues to the Shift Lead or management when additional assistance is required.
- Assists with the setup, execution, and breakdown of birthday parties, group events, leagues, tournaments, promotions, and special events, including food and beverage service.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of bowling lanes, seating areas, counters, food and beverage service areas, shoe rental areas, equipment, and other assigned guest and work areas.
- Cleans spills and removes trash and debris as needed to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Restocks bowling supplies, food and beverage items, condiments, paper products, guest service materials, and other operational items as needed throughout the shift.
- Assists with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, stocking, food and beverage preparation, equipment checks, and preparation of guest service areas.
- Identifies and promptly reports safety hazards, equipment concerns, food safety issues, guest incidents, and other operational concerns to the Shift Lead or management.
- Collaborates with Canyon Lanes team members, Food and Beverage, Culinary, and other departments to support efficient operations and a positive guest experience.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support overall center operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates strong guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume entertainment environment.
- Ability to learn bowling equipment, scoring systems, lane procedures, and Canyon Lanes services.
- Demonstrates basic mathematical skills and the ability to accurately process transactions and handle cash.
- Ability to operate point-of-sale systems and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties.
- Demonstrates sound judgment when responding to guest needs, equipment concerns, and safety conditions.
- Displays reliability, professionalism, integrity, and a positive attitude when interacting with guests and team members.
- Committed to providing exceptional guest service and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming entertainment environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in bowling, entertainment, hospitality, Food & Beverage, retail, or a related guest service environment preferred.
- Previous cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) experience preferred.
- Previous bowling center or family entertainment center experience preferred but not required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

- Mobility: Frequently walks, stands, bends, and reaches throughout the shift while assisting customers, stocking shelves, and maintaining the sales floor; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods.
- Stationary Work: Frequently stands at the register for extended durations during guest transactions and peak traffic times.
- Tool Operation: Regular use of point-of-sale (POS) systems, scanners, phones, credit card terminals, and standard retail equipment; may also use pricing guns, label makers, and handheld inventory tools.
- Visual Acuity: Requires near vision to process payments, read labels, verify pricing, and review inventory documents; must be attentive to detail in both guest service and cash handling procedures.
- Working Conditions: Routinely works in a guest-facing retail environment with exposure to moderate noise, public interaction, occasional guest complaints, and a smoking environment in or near casino and property areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
