Box Truck Driver

Location: Hyattsville/Landover, MD, with routes throughout the Washington, DC metro area
Pay: $25/hour
Schedule: Typically Tuesday–Thursday and Saturday–Sunday, with Mondays and Fridays off
Availability: Full-time opportunity; part-time candidates may also be considered

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Box Truck Driver to support a nonprofit organization that collects donated books and sells them at community book sales and fairs. Proceeds help provide new books to students in Washington, DC public schools.

This hands-on position combines driving, donation pickups, event setup, and occasional warehouse assistance. Drivers will typically report to the warehouse in the Hyattsville/Landover area.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a 20-foot box truck throughout the DC metro area, including tight streets and delivery locations.

• Pick up donated books from stores and residential locations.

• Transport books and supplies to book sales and community events.

• Load and unload the truck and assist with event setup.

• Help break down events, reload the truck, and return materials to the warehouse.

• Assist with warehouse tasks when pickups or deliveries are not scheduled.

Qualifications

• CDL-B license preferred.

• Non-CDL candidates may be considered with strong route delivery experience operating a box truck of at least 20 feet.

• Ability to safely maneuver a large vehicle in busy urban areas.

• Ability to perform hands-on loading, unloading, and event setup duties.

• Dependability, professionalism, and strong customer service skills.

• Weekend availability required, as many events take place on Saturdays and Sundays.
