Breakfast Cook - Hospital | Location: Boise, ID 83704


Compensation: $16-$17 per hour| Full-Time


Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6a-2:30p


 


Job Summary


As a Breakfast Cook, you’ll play a key role in starting the day off right for patients, staff, and visitors. In this fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen, you will prepare fresh, high-quality breakfast items and grab-and-go offerings that support a nourishing and efficient food service operation.


This role blends breakfast line cooking with essential prep and grab-and-go production, ensuring our kitchen is ready to deliver wholesome, scratch-made food every morning. You’ll follow recipes, dietary guidelines, and strict food safety standards while contributing to a clean, organized, and dependable environment.


 


What You'll Do



  • Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast items such as eggs, breakfast meats, hot cereals, and daily specials with consistency and quality

  • Support early morning meal service, ensuring all items are ready, fresh, and presented on time

  • Prepare grab-and-go items such as breakfast sandwiches, parfaits, fruit cups, and packaged meals for staff and visitors

  • Follow standardized recipes, portion guidelines, and production sheets to meet hospital nutrition standards

  • Complete daily prep and pull schedules to support breakfast service, café needs, and grab-and-go production

  • Maintain proper food safety standards at all times—ensuring hot food stays hot and cold food stays cold

  • Keep kitchen, prep areas, and equipment clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation guidelines

  • Assist with inventory organization, labeling, dating, and product rotation to maintain freshness and accuracy

  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth, efficient morning operations

  • Other duties as assigned 


 


What You Will Bring 



  • High School Diploma/GED 

  • Previous cook or prep cook experience (healthcare or high-volume setting preferred)

  • Strong understanding of breakfast cookery and basic food preparation techniques

  • Ability to work early morning shifts and maintain a consistent, reliable schedule

  • ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card 

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen


 


Physical and Sensory Requirements



  • This job involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and a kitchen environment with fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise. Employees must have the physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift trays, and perform repetitive tasks. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and vibration may occur. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
