Full Time| Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM| Hybrid Position| Weekly Earned Wage Access is an option for this position. 

This position can be located in any county throughout the Choctaw Nation Reservation. 

Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Budget Analyst provides professional financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting support to the Tribal Council of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights that support sound decision-making, ensure transparency, and promote responsible stewardship of tribal resources in alignment with the Nation’s priorities and values.  You will report directly to the Tribal Council members.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Prepare and analyze annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to support Tribal Council decision-making

  2. You will monitor revenues, expenditures, and program-level budgets to ensure alignment with approved plans and tribal policies

  3. Perform variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide recommendations for corrective action

  4. Develop and present clear, concise financial summaries, dashboards, and reports for Tribal Council meetings and briefings

  5. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and financial decision-making

  6. You will collaborate with Tribal Finance, program departments, and leadership to gather data and ensure accuracy of financial reporting

  7. Ensure compliance with tribal policies, federal regulations, and applicable accounting and reporting standards

  8. You will support long-term financial planning and forecasting initiatives, including scenario modeling and budget projections

  9. Maintain and safeguard confidential financial information with a high degree of accuracy, integrity, and discretion

  10. Oversee purchasing card activity by monitoring expenditures, supporting reconciliations, ensuring compliance with tribal purchasing policies, and providing reporting and guidance to cardholders and leadership as needed.

  11. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Public Administration, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Three (3) years of experience in budgeting, accounting, or financial analysis.
