Building Attendant

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Building Attendant is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and well-supervised environment during open gym hours on weekdays and weekends. This position monitors participant activities, is responsible for equipment set-up and take down, and helps ensure that all participants have a positive experience. The attendant ensures that the various activities follow the guidelines, goals, and philosophy of the Oswegoland Park District. The Building Attendant reports to the Recreation Supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• On-site supervision of participants, programs and program areas 

• Assist in maintaining gymnasium/facility care and upkeep 

• Set up and take down equipment for open gym or program activities 

• Enforce all open gym rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment 

• Exhibit responsibility and diligence when following opening and closing procedure of program areas 

• Ability to deal with conflicts and issues that may arise 

• Communicate effectively but not limited to staff, participants, and spectators 

• Attend staff meetings and trainings 

• Dress appropriately 

• Ability to follow directions from the Recreation Supervisor 

• Perform other duties as assigned 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING: 

• Must be 18 years of age 

• General knowledge of athletics/gym activities 

• Experience in supervising adult sports is preferred  

• Obtain & maintain current CPR, First Aid, AED and Mandated Reporter certifications within required timeframe 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: 

• Work independently and as a team member of working groups  

• Ability to work with the public and other staff in a professional manner 

• Ability to learn new skills and knowledge 

• Demonstrate communication skills, oral and written  

• Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated values of the Oswegoland Park District

Hours:

• Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri: 8:00am – 12:00pm 
  


• Wed: 7:00am – 12:00pm 


• Weekends as needed.  Times may vary based on programming needs and changes. 

Rate:

$18-$20/hour
