Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Building Automation Systems Design Engineer based in Sun Prairie, WI. In this role, you will design and develop Direct Digital Control (DDC)-based building automation systems that support HVAC, lighting, and other critical facility operations. You will collaborate with clients, sales, and field teams to gather requirements, develop detailed system designs, documentation, and sequences of operation, while supporting successful installation, integration, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Design panel layouts, electrical wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, point lists, and bills of materials
Develop BAS system architecture, control diagrams, and documentation using tools such as AutoCAD and Visio
Collaborate with clients, sales, and field teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective automation solutions
Support system integration, troubleshooting, validation, commissioning, and ongoing technical support for BAS projects
Maintain project documentation, develop operation manuals, and update as-built drawings
Assist with submittal preparation and coordination with sales and field teams, while building strong client relationships
Qualifications
Demonstrated interest or experience in building automation systems (BAS) design, documentation, and implementation (entry-level candidates with relevant internships, projects, or coursework are encouraged to apply)
Familiarity with industry protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks, or a strong willingness to learn
Proficiency in Visio, AutoCAD, and/or other building automation or design tools
Experience with or understanding of system integration and troubleshooting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred; equivalent industry experience or relevant coursework will be considered.
