Building Maintenance

SUMMARY: Entry-level position. Assists in repairing and maintaining machinery equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems of the facility by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Ability to make emergency repairs.
• Bends & cuts conduit wire, and drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections.
• Connects wire to motor, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, splices wires, and insulates wire with friction tape.
• Patches or replaces plasterboard and paints walls, ceiling, and trim of the building.
• Knowledge of construction and retrofitting projects.
• Must be able to make periodic maintenance of facility systems.
• Operates the welding machine to repair or join metal parts.
• Installs lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, wall boxes, and terminal boards.
• Reads blueprints, shop drawings, or written instructions to determine the method and sequence of assembling parts.
• Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.
• Diagnose the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be certifiable through the Cocopah Tribal Gaming office.
• The Casino is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operation and may be required to work any or all shifts.
• Must understand and comply with departmental internal control regulations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as well as carry heavy supplies and equipment throughout the shift.
• Ability and initiative to adapt to 8 different trades and learn them accordingly.
• Ability to be part of a team and participate as a team member.
• Must be able to paint and perform structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishing of buildings.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• One year of experience in electrical, construction, and facility maintenance preferred.

In the entertainment industry, one may be subject to a work environment containing excessive noise, smoke, and stress.
