Building Operating Engineer

Commercial Experience Required — Residential Experience Does Not Meet the Requirements

We’re looking for a hands-on Building Operating Engineer with strong commercial experience and the technical skills to keep a facility running safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a great opportunity for someone who can troubleshoot across multiple trades and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty.

You’ll work with a wide range of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, BAS/automation controls, and mechanical equipment. Experience with commercial kitchen equipment is a major plus, especially ovens, walk-in freezers, coolers, and exhaust hoods.

What You’ll Do

• 
  

  Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across commercial building systems

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment

  
  


• 
  

  Monitor and respond to building automation systems and controls

  
  


• 
  

  Perform preventive maintenance and keep equipment operating efficiently

  
  


• 
  

  Respond to service requests and complete work orders through a CMMS

  
  


• 
  

  Troubleshoot equipment issues and determine the appropriate repair or solution

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with equipment installations, replacements, and facility upgrades

  
  


• 
  

  Support fire/life safety systems and required building inspections

  
  


• 
  

  Coordinate with contractors and vendors and monitor completed work

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain parts inventory and ensure necessary materials are available

  
  


• 
  

  Help keep the facility safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance

  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 
  

  3+ years of commercial building maintenance experience

  
  


• 
  

  Strong experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing

  
  


• 
  

  Commercial maintenance experience is required — primarily residential backgrounds will not be considered

  
  


• 
  

  Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

  
  


• 
  

  EPA Universal certification required

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with CMMS/computerized work order systems

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to work with computerized building systems and controls

  
  


• 
  

  Fire/life safety experience is a plus

  
  


• 
  

  BAS/automation controls experience is highly valued

  
  


• 
  

  Commercial kitchen equipment experience is a BIG PLUS

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with ovens, walk-in freezers, coolers, and kitchen hoods is highly desirable
