Job Description Summary

The Bus Attendant carries dirty dishes from the eating area to the kitchen. Serves ice water and butter to patrons. Assists server by carrying the tray of food from kitchen to service area. May sweep, mop, or otherwise clean up floor, take out trash from all areas of restaurant. Rearranges tables and chairs to maintain a neat uniform area appearance. Stocks side stations and perform side-work duties as necessary. Helps clean and set tables to speed up service.

Special Qualifications, Education, or Licenses:

• Currently enrolled in High School, or Diploma or Equivalent
• Entry-level.  We will train
• Must speak and understand English
• Must have TABC and Food Handler certificate

 

Essential Elements:

• Regular and Punctual Attendance
• Ability to adhere to Sonesta grooming standards.
• Ability to push/pull a cart weighing approximately 300 pounds, including up and down inclines.
• Ability to constantly lift and move approximately 50 pounds, including setting and storing in overhead areas.
• Ability to clean to standard necessary tables.
• Ability to bend, squat, and reach daily.
• Ability to carry loaded bus tub up and downstairs.
• Ability to move freely within 3’x3’ area.
• Ability to stand and walk continuously and run as warranted.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion and fine motor skills; for example:  wiping down tables and replacing condiments in exact positions.
• Ability to interact with guest and other employees in a courteous, empathetic, and discreet manner.
• Ability to work with chemicals, (for example pot soap and bleach), and with prolonged exposure to water.
• Ability to read and write effectively.
• Not infected by diseases transmitted through food supply as designated by the Public Health Service.
• Ability to read and follow the Sonesta Employee Handbook.
• Ability to sustain direct contact with the public; must establish a high degree of customer service, (smile, eye contact, positive personal presentation, etc.), and high volume interaction with guests and staff.

 

Job Tasks:

• Assist cooks, waiters, and hostess as needed
• Assist in clearing table of dirty dishes.
• Wipe down and re-set with speed and accuracy.
• Stock clean dishes in appropriate areas.
• Take and pick up supplies from the storeroom.
• Sweep and mop floors during slow periods and after closing  (a.m. & p.m.).
• Carry dishes to and from the dishwasher.
• Change coke tanks and CO2 tanks.
• Move tables as needed according to the requests of the manager or waiter.
• General cleaning duties, assisted by supervisor or manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of broom closet and dry storage room (207).
• Maintain cleanliness of work station area and communicate to supervisor any maintenance needed to keep equipment in good working order.
• Maintain a pleasant and courteous attitude, making our customers your number one priority.
• To perform any other tasks as assigned by Management
