Bus Driver

The Economic Opportunity Commission is the designated anti-poverty agency in Nassau County; an innovative Community Action Agency devoted to facilitating and strengthening basic social relationships between individuals families, and social organizations

For over 50 years, the EOC of Nassau County Inc., has provided programs and services to low-income Nassau County residents.  During the past year, approximately 41,000 unduplicated low-income children, youth, individuals, and families accessed EOC Programs and services.  As a Community Action Agency, the EOC of Nassau County, Inc., is a direct support for the County's residents who live at or below the federal poverty level. This includes those who are recognized as "working poor". 

The role of the driver is to operate the vehicle safely.  Respond reliably and safely to any emergency

situation and well as to relate to the children, staff or clients he/she is transporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To operate the bus on the assigned route.
• To follow the program rules for conduct while operating the bus.
• To provide a positive, supportive environment for the children, staff and clients riding the bus.
• To communicate reliably with children, staff and clients riding the bus.
• To handle any emergency calmly and effectively.
• To maintain accurate records about the daily transportation.
• To maintain accurate records on the daily operation of the bus including daily mileage.
• To maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance.
• To participate in all necessary training and planning meetings.
• Drive children, staff and clients riding the bus for medical, dental or social service referrals and/or follow up.
•  Drive staff on job related trips as necessary with the supervisor’s approval.
•  Must keep vehicle clean.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be vaccinated
• Must have a recent physical examination.
• Have some experience driving a school bus.
• Must comply with all applicable County, State and Federal requirements for school bus drivers.
• Must have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Class “B” or “C”
• Endorsement “P”
• Restrictions may vary on the license
• Must clear our insurance company review
