Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP, a leading national law and lobbying firm, is seeking a Business Development Director to lead strategic growth and business development efforts for its Government Relations practice.
The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to shareholders, policy directors and policy advisors, identifying opportunities, deepening client relationships, and translating market insights into actionable strategies. This highly visible position will lead strategic business development, client engagement, and market positioning initiatives that advance the firm’s objectives, strengthen its competitive position, and elevate its profile in the marketplace.
The role in action:
Lead the business development strategy and growth initiatives for the Government Relations practice, driving new client acquisition and expanding existing relationships.
Partner with shareholders and policy directors to identify new business opportunities and strengthen key client relationships.
Advise shareholders, policy directors, and policy advisors on business development with best practices, opportunity identification, and pursuit strategies.
Identify cross-selling opportunities across the firm to deepen client engagement and expand service offerings.
Enhance the firm’s visibility through targeted marketing, events, sponsorships, speaking engagements, and industry involvement. In collaboration with the Communications team, help shape the Government Relations communications strategy by translating market intelligence, policy developments, and client priorities into messaging, thought leadership, visibility opportunities, and external positioning.
Manage and mentor the Business Development team while overseeing budget, retention, and integration initiatives.
We are seeking candidates who:
Bring 7+ years of experience in business development, marketing, or other professional services settings; experience with government relations or regulatory practices preferred.
Hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Demonstrate strong business development acumen, the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels, and a proactive, strategic approach to driving client growth and market opportunities.
