Job Description - Busser/Runner

Position Overview:


The Busser/Runner will report to the General Manager and will support bartenders, servers and kitchen staff with a variety of duties that help with the operations of the restaurant and bar.  


Key Responsibilities:



  • Support servers, bartenders and kitchen staff with food running needs.

  • Clear tables of used flatware, dishes, glassware, napkins, etc. and bring them to kitchen for sorting/washing.

  • Promptly reset tables to standard.

  • Complete additional support requests given by manager, FOH & BOH staff.

  • Complete all daily side work tasks efficiently and thoroughly.

  • Restock service station areas with flatware, dishes, glassware, napkins, etc.

  • Wash trays as needed to ensure proper sanitation and presentation.

  • Change out depleted beverage syrup and kegs as required.

  • Replenish ice bins.

  • Be proactive in seeking out additional duties such as wiping down menus, sweeping, cleaning kitchen doors, etc.

  • Keep working areas and guest areas clean at all times. Remove trash as needed.

  • Professionally handle guest complaints, solve problems, apologize/emphasize during guest complaints, follow up. Communicate any elevated complaints that could not be resolved to supervisor/manager.

  • Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration.

  • Understand and use safe work practices for all safety precautions including Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Violence in the Workplace, Accident Reporting, OSHA Compliance, and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures.

  • Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued including time and attendance expectations, uniform and dress code standards, anti-harassment policy, and substances in the workplace.


Position Requirements:



  • Ability to complete a satisfactory background check

  • Ability to perform assigned tasks, operate equipment, and complete job duties in a safe manner

  • Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs including midweek and weekend days

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and colleagues.

  • Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to remain standing for extended periods

  • Ability to move up and down stairs

  • Ability to move quickly based on guest needs

  • Capable to regularly move and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to use repetitive manual dexterity, such as carrying, sweeping floors, wiping tables, polishing and rolling silverware

  • Ability to bend, stretch, and reach frequently, including above head, and repetitively during a shift


 Required Qualifications:



  • Prior experience in a restaurant setting preferred, but not required

  • Able to complete a satisfactory background check

  • Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including weekdays and weekends.

  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role and passion for food and beverage

  • Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.


Wage Rate: $20 per hour
