The Doe Run Company is seeking a Buyer to support operations by timely sourcing and ordering material, equipment, and services while supporting financial, quality and expedited needs. This position is based out of our Central Office in Viburnum, MO.


 


The work location may change as needed to support production and business needs within the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri.


 


Job Responsibilities: 



  • Purchasing: Source material, equipment and services for the organization as needed. Negotiate with vendors for price, availability, quality and delivery time. Manage backorder report and invoice exceptions regularly to ensure material is received and invoices are paid in a timely manner.

  • Customer relations: Work with internal customers to ensure the correct material, equipment and services are quoted, ordered and received in a timely manner.

  • Vendor relations: Work with vendors to ensure material, equipment and services are rendered at the best overall cost and received in a timely manner.

  • Commodity analysis: Perform analysis on commodities purchased including sourcing and engaging with vendor base.

  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.

  • Other duties or projects as assigned.


Education & Experience: 



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 3 years customer relations/service experience.

  • 1 year of buying experience preferred.

  • Associate degree preferred


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 



  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP enterprise resource planning (PeopleSoft) and accounts payable (DataServ). 

  • Proficient decision-making regarding prioritization and negotiation.

  • Advanced customer relations and communication skills (including verbal, written, and listening).

  • Attention to detail must be detail-oriented and maintain the ability to manage multiple tasks.


Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements: 



  • Regular use of a computer and telephone,

  • Work is regularly performed in a quiet office setting.

  • Regularly sitting, talking, hearing, reach with hands/arms, and repetitive wrist and/or finger movements. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

  • Occasionally required to lift up to 5 pounds.
