Early Learning Center Co-Director:  Learning and Teaching 


The Early Learning Center serves as the foundational first step in a child's educational journey at Calvary Day School. In alignment with Calvary’s mission, through intentional, Christ-centered instruction and nurturing relationships, the program develops the spiritual , academic, social-emotional, and physical readiness necessary for success in preschool, Lower School, and beyond.



Position Summary


The Early Learning Center Co-Director of Learning and Teaching serves as an instructional leader within Calvary Day School's Early Learning Center, partnering with the ELC Director to provide a Christ-centered, developmentally appropriate educational experience for children from infancy through three years of age.



This position provides leadership in curriculum, instruction, child development, teacher support, assessment, and program implementation while fostering strong alignment between the Early Learning Center and Lower School. The Co-Director works collaboratively with teachers, families, and school leadership to ensure that every child is known, loved and prepared for future learning.



The Co-Director models Christian leadership, supports faculty growth, and helps cultivate a culture of excellence that reflects the mission and values of Calvary Day School.



Essential Responsibilities


Instructional Leadership & Curriculum



  • Lead the implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of developmentally appropriate curriculum for infants through three-year-olds.

  • Review and revision of pacing guides, instructional resources, curriculum maps, and planning tools that support consistent classroom instruction.

  • Ensure alignment of curriculum, instructional practices, and developmental expectations with Georgia Early Learning Development Standards and Calvary Day School developmental goals.

  • Promote intentional learning experiences that support communication, early literacy, mathematics, fine and gross motor development, executive functioning, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and social-emotional growth.

  • Maintain curriculum resources and assist with instructional material selection and inventory.



Teacher Coaching & Professional Growth



  • Coach, mentor, and support teachers through classroom observations, feedback, modeling, and collaborative planning.

  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities focused on instructional best practices, child development, classroom management, and school initiatives.

  • Assist teachers in lesson planning, instructional design, differentiation, and implementation of developmentally appropriate practices.

  • Foster a collaborative professional culture that encourages continuous improvement, innovation, and reflective practice.

  • Assist in teacher observations and evaluation processes.



Student Development & Academic Support



  • Support teachers in monitoring each child's developmental progress through observation, assessment, and documentation.

  • Assist in identifying students who may benefit from additional academic, behavioral, developmental, or social-emotional support.

  • Collaborate with families, teachers, and support personnel, and school leadership to develop appropriate intervention strategies and transition plans.

  • Promote instructional practices that foster independence, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.



Program Alignment & Collaboration



  • Serve as the instructional liaison between the Early Learning Center and Lower School to ensure continuity of curriculum, instructional practices, and student expectations.

  • Collaborate with school leadership to strengthen vertical alignment across early childhood and elementary programs.

  • Support strategic initiatives that advance Calvary's commitment to educational excellence and whole-child development.

  • Coordinate academic aspects of the Summer Bridge Program, including curriculum development, instructional planning, teacher support, and family communication.

  • Assist with student placement, classroom transitions, and readiness planning.



Family Engagement & Communication



  • Build positive partnerships with families by communicating student growth, developmental milestones, school initiatives, and educational opportunities.

  • Support teachers in maintaining consistent, professional communication through Brightwheel and other school communication platforms.

  • Coordinate parent education opportunities and family engagement events that strengthen home-school partnerships.

  • Assist in welcoming and onboarding new families to the Early Learning Center community.



Operational & Program Support



  • Partner with the ELC Director to support daily operations, staffing needs, classroom coverage, and program implementation.

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Bright from the Start licensing requirements, health and safety regulations, and program documentation.

  • Monitor implementation of classroom procedures, instructional expectations, and required documentation.

  • Support scheduling, enrichment opportunities, special events, and school-wide initiatives as assigned.



Qualifications


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.

  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.



  • Minimum five years of successful early childhood teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development, early learning best practices, and developmentally appropriate instruction.

  • Working knowledge of Georgia Early Learning Development Standards and Bright from the Start licensing requirements.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Strong understanding of early childhood development from infancy through preschool.

  • Ability to mentor and support teachers while cultivating trust and professional growth.

  • Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment practices, and instructional design.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze student data and support instructional decision-making.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, families, and school leadership.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a Christ-centered learning environment.
