Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County are looking for Camp Counselors this Summer at our West(Allied) and South (Fleming) locations! We will be accepting applications until April 10th, 2026. Interviews will begin April 13th, 2026. All applicants must be able successfully complete a drug screen test, background test and reference check. Anticipated Start Date is June 1st, 2026.

POSITION SUMMARY & OVERALL OBJECTIVES
The Camp Counselor plans and implements fun and engaging activities within BGCDCs 5 key program areas; Healthy Lifestyles, Character & Leadership, Sports & Recreation, Academic Success and the Arts within a DCF 252 licensed summer camp program. Additionally, the Camp Counselor will implement grant funded initiatives. The Camp Counselor will supervise and work with youth ages 5 to 12 and/or 13-18 and are responsible for creating an environment that supports positive youth development, serving as a role model and mentor and ensuring youth safety in an out-of-school environment. Camp Counselors assume a role with a variety of age groups or be temporarily assigned to a specific group in the event of an absence. This position may include occasional evenings/weekend hours to accommodate special events, field trips, and community programs. The Camp Counselor is also expected to be flexible and adaptable, taking on other duties to support the organization's objectives. This LTE position is hired starting June 8th and ending August 14th. Additional employment can be available based on position availability for the school year.

RELATIONSHIPS
Internal and external relationships are essential to the role.
Internal: As an integral part of our team, you will maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (both professional and volunteer), Club members, and your supervisor. This continuous communication ensures the seamless exchange of information, facilitates discussions on pertinent issues, clarifies guidelines and instructions, provides instruction and guidance, and offers counseling when necessary.
External: Externally, you will maintain contact as needed with various community groups, schools, members' families, and other stakeholders to foster collaborative relationships and assist in resolving any arising issues. By actively engaging with these external partners, you contribute to creating a supportive network and ensuring the well-being of our members within the broader community.

Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts, and/or technical information with others. Ability to visually monitor the activities of club members. The employee must be able to perform CPR or first aid. The employee must use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, jump, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Recreational activities occur in an indoor and outdoor setting.

Required Hours Typical working hours and travel. This position is classified as non-exempt and part-time, temporary, requiring availability during operational hours to fulfill the essential duties of the role. The position requires occasional travel to off-site Clubs, meetings, and events. Typical working hours - M ,T, W, TH, F between the hours of 8:00am - 8:30pm.
