Organization Overview:
At Camp Fire Columbia, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to find and pursue their spark– a passion that inspires and drives them to set and achieve goals for their future. Our Summer Camp Program was founded in 1924 and continues to serve youth ages 5-18. Position Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing the Camp Namanu kitchen, ensuring balanced meals for all persons on site for summer camp, weekend programs, catered rentals, and Outdoor School. Responsibilities include scheduling and supervising seasonal kitchen employees, menu-planning, food ordering within budget, managing kitchen inventory and supply requests, adhering to all food safety standards, meeting with renters or partners ahead of events and rentals, and working with camp leadership to implement policies for staff and campers. This position is also responsible for ensuring that any reported dietary needs and restrictions are safely met.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises seasonal kitchen team included but not limited to: Assistant Kitchen Manager, Senior Cooks, Cooks, Kitchen Assistants, and any Interns. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
Experience leading a team in a commercial kitchen, camp kitchen or restaurant, and experience creating menus, managing inventory and budget is required. Working knowledge of food safety principles.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills:
Has advanced basic computer job skills including logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve/backup important data.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
This position requires a valid Oregon Food Handler’s card, ServSafe certification, and First Aid & CPR certification.
