Cardiology Assistant

Department: Cardiology

Reporting to the Department Director, the Cardiology Assistant performs all routine and assigned duties under the direct supervision of the Cardiology Nurse assigned to the patient’s care.  Specializes in patient care; performing procedures such as EKGs, stress testing and transport functions associated with the pediatric to adult patient population inpatients, emergency department patients and outpatients.  Assists to maximize the efficiency of the Cardiology Department through effective triaging.                         

Minimum Education:        

High School graduate preferred.                
                        
Minimum Experience/Skills:        

Recent (within 1 year) EKG and treadmill experience preferred                
                        
License/Certificates/Credentials:        

Current BLS card. Basic Dysrhythmia Course Certificate (if certificate is more than 2 years old, must pass the Basic Dysrhythmia Course pretest prior to hire date into position); or must have taken and successfully passed the Basic Dysrhythmia Course Pretest and will take and pass the Basic Dysrhythmia Course within six months from date of hire in position; or if internal transfer from a position requiring utilization of Basic Dysrhythmia certification with competency assessed as satisfactory or above within the last 12 months.
