Shift Schedule: Weekdays 6:45 AM – 5:00 PM, plus 1 weekend per month

Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered

PATIENT INFORMATION

Case Mix: Inpatient cardiac and thoracic surgical cases

Rounding: Included (with APP support, surgeon cosigns)

Phone Consults: Yes (ER and CVICU consult as needed)

FACILITY INFORMATION

Specialty Backup Available: Surgical PA (first call for floor), CTS APP (in CVICU)

Support Staff Available: APPs for rounding, surgical PAs for floor, CTS APPs in CVICU

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

Cardiac Surgery

Thoracic Surgery (Open, VATS, Robotic)

ECMO

Impella

TEVAR

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Board: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery

Licenses: Active FL License

DEA / CDS: Active DEA required

Experience: Minimum 50 cases of cardio and 50 cases of thoracic in the past 2 years

Other Qualifications: Updated CV, Lee Health Signed Attestation

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform inpatient consults and inpatient surgical cases Monday through Friday

Conduct pre and postoperative rounding with the APP, adding required notes and cosigning

Provide weekend rounding on all patients with a PA and perform emergent surgical cases

Evaluate and manage all new consults as they arise

Cover Monday through Thursday night call intermittently as part of an equitable rotation
