Care Aide, Aviva Saad Ronnie Diamond Older Adult Center

Position Overview:

JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Aviva Saad Ronnie Diamond Older Adult Center team as a Care Aide. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your passion for working with older adults and previous knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease and/or other dementias to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Care Aide plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by building a positive rapport with clients and their families. This position reports directly to the Program Coordinator and works closely with the Assistant Coordinator and the rest of the team.

Responsibilities:

• Encourage client socialization and participation in activities


• Assist clients with eating and walking


• Transferring assistance


• Always ensure client safety


• Assist the Program Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator and volunteers in facilitating the program

Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

• Substantial command of the English language


• Ability to communicate and establish a positive rapport with clients and their family members and caregivers


• Be kind and patient


• Ability to deal with complex problems involving several variables


• Ability to work under stress

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

• Experience working with older adults and adults living with dementia and Alzheimer’s


• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand for up to 5 hours

Reports To: Program Coordinator

Pay Range: $19.50-$21.00/hour

Total Compensation: 

In addition to standard pay, compensation for this position includes:
