Statement of the Job:

The Maine Business School (MBS) at the University of Maine seeks a dynamic and student-centered professional to serve as the Career Development Specialist and Academic Advisor. This role leads the development and delivery of comprehensive career education and professional development programming for undergraduate and graduate business students and acts as the primary academic advisor for second year students.


This role is critical in preparing students for career success by providing individualized advising, facilitating workshops, and managing career platforms. This position collaborates across campus and with campus stakeholders to create meaningful experiential and networking opportunities that align with industry needs. The hiring range for this position is $48,000 to $52,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required

●    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human/Organizational Development, Social Work, Education, Psychology or a related field 

●    2 or more years of experience in career services, student development, recruiting, or a related area 

●    Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills

●    Experience mentoring students or early-career professionals 

Preferred

●    Master’s degree

●    Four plus years of experience in career services, student development, recruiting, or a related area

●    Prior experience doing career work with business students 

●    Two plus years of experience as an academic advisor support holistic student development

●    Familiarity with career services platforms such as Handshake 

●    Event planning and program development experience 

●    Employer relations or recruiting experience
