Job Description - Career Employment Classroom Instructional Assistant
Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavioral support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders to empower the students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories for their lives.
We currently have an opening for a full-time Instructional Assistant for our Career Employment Classroom.
JOB GOAL
Assist the instructor in teaching students with various education levels in the Career Employment Class showing them how to be successful within the workforce.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in planning and implementing lesson plans focused on career exploration, including researching students' career interests and outlining the educational pathways required to achieve their goals.
Assists in supporting the students in completing job applications, writing professional cover letters and resumes, filling out W-4 forms, and requesting/writing letters of recommendation.
Assists in conducting mock interviews to help students build effective interviewing skills and confidence.
Assists students on essential workplace skills, including strong work ethic, professional appearance, and strategies for becoming a valuable team member.
Assists educating students on personal finance topics such as budgeting, banking, and financial planning.
Assists in maintaining accurate records of student performance and regularly report on academic progress.
Provide transportation for students to and from classroom or program-related locations, as needed.
Fill in for the classroom teacher, as needed.
Perform Job Coach Duties, as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Valid PA Driver's License, required.
PA Teaching Certification, preferred.
Experience in working with children/students, preferred.
Must be punctual and reliable.
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and leadership team, while maintaining professional boundaries.
Positively represent and promote BHA services to outside organizations.
Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
Ability to work both independently and as a team.
Communicate effectively utilizing both written and oral communication.
