Job Description - Carpenter

Introduction

Bigge Crane and Rigging has been elevating America since 1916. With over 1,800 cranes and a coast-to-coast presence, we buy, sell, rent, operate, and maintain one of the largest, most advanced crane fleets in the country. We’ve played a role in building some of America’s most iconic landmarks and earned a reputation for doing it right—with performance, precision, and accountability.

Job Overview

Bigge Crane and Rigging is seeking a Carpenter to take ownership of the physical condition, functionality, and continuous improvement of our facilities and real estate assets. This role is not maintenance. It is a build, upgrade, and execute position.

The ideal candidate is a true master of the trade, capable of leading complex facility improvement projects across offices, yards, shops, and residential style spaces. This individual understands carpentry at an expert level and has working mastery of plumbing, electrical, HVAC coordination, and building systems typically found in commercial offices, industrial facilities, and residential structures.

This is an opportunity for a self starter with their own small crew to directly influence the strategic direction of facilities for one of the fastest growing crane and heavy equipment companies in the Gulf of America. The role also supports Bigge’s real estate division and long term property development initiatives.

Responsibilities

Facility Improvements and Construction

-Lead and execute build outs, remodels, upgrades, and renovations across all Bigge facilities

-Perform high end carpentry work including framing, finish carpentry, millwork, cabinetry, doors, windows, and custom builds framing

Systems Knowledge and Integration

-Perform and oversee light to moderate plumbing and electrical work where appropriate

-Coordinate and integrate building systems including electrical, plumbing, lighting, HVAC interfaces, and low voltage

-Identify issues before they become failures and proactively correct them

 Project Leadership

-Plan work scopes, material needs, timelines, and sequencing

-Execute special projects independently with minimal supervision

Real Estate Division Support

-Support Bigge’s real estate assets including offices, residential properties, and development projects

-Assist in property repositioning, value add improvements, and long term capital upgrades

-Provide practical construction input into property acquisition and development decisions

Strategic Facilities Input

-Serve as a trusted internal resource on what to build, improve, replace, or redesign

-Recommend cost effective, durable, and scalable facility solutions

    -Think long term, not patchwork

Requirements

Technical Experience

-Minimum 10 to 15 years of hands on carpentry experience

-Master level proficiency in rough and finish carpentry

-Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and building systems

-Experience working in commercial, industrial, and residential environments

Leadership and Execution

-Proven ability to lead a small crew or independent team

-Highly self directed with strong judgment and work ethic

-Able to manage multiple projects without constant oversight

Practical Intelligence

-Understands how buildings actually function, not just how they look

-Thinks in terms of longevity, maintainability, and total cost of ownership

-Comfortable making decisions in the field

Ideal Candidate Profile

      -A builder, not a handyman

-Takes pride in craftsmanship and execution

-Comfortable working directly with senior leadership

-Sees facilities as a strategic asset, not an afterthought

-Wants to be part of a growing enterprise, not a static job

Benefits

-Competitive pay and a matching 401(k) plan

-Vacation, Company Holidays, and Sick Days

          -Flexible spending accounts/Health Savings Account

-Reimbursement plan for the company Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy

Bigge Crane and Rigging is a 100 plus year old company that is scaling rapidly. Facilities, offices, and real estate must keep pace with that growth. This role directly impacts how our people work, how our brand is perceived, and how our assets perform over time.

This is a long term position for someone who wants autonomy, responsibility, and the ability to leave a visible, lasting mark on a growing organization.

Bigge provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, military or veteran status.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
