Pay Structure

• Regional Loads (about 75%, 200+ miles): $0.63 per mile, rising to $0.645 at 1 year and $0.66 at 3 years, plus $20 per stop
• Local Loads (about 25%, under 200 miles): $0.725 per mile, rising to $0.735 at 1 year and $0.745 at 3 years, plus $30 per stop
• Miles: 2,500 to 2,700 per week on average
• Backhaul Pickups: $30 at vendor locations
• Daily Readiness Pay: up to $100 per week when you show up on time and check in before departing
• Breakdowns: $25 per hour after 2 hours, up to $300 per day
• Hourly and Safety Pay: $20 per hour
• Training: about 3 days, paid at full mileage and stop rates

Schedule

• Tuesday to Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off
• 1 AM start
• Out 2 to 3 nights a week on average
• More routes and shifts open up once you have time on the account
• Some holidays are worked when they fall on your scheduled day

The Routes

• Deliveries to about 40 retail stores in Michigan (including the Upper Peninsula), Illinois, Northern Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin
• 85 to 90% of runs go to Chicago suburbs, never downtown Chicago
• Shuttles between distribution centers in Lansing and Pleasant Prairie, WI
• Backhauls back to Lansing, about 85% drop and hook
• 45, 48 and 53 foot trailers, single bunk sleeper trucks that stay at the account on home time

Requirements

• At least 21 years old with a valid Class A CDL
• 3 months verifiable tractor-trailer experience in the last 6 months with one carrier, 6 months in the last 12 months, or 12 months in the last 5 years
• Hazmat endorsement within 90 days of hire (cost reimbursed)
• No more than 2 moving violations and no careless or reckless driving in the last 3 years
• No DUI/DWI in the last 5 years and no major preventable accidents in the last 3 years
• Must pass hair and urine drug testing
