CDL Dump Truck Driver

What began as a summer job to finance Robert Byrne's education has grown into one of the largest commercial paving contractors in St. Louis.  In 1975, Bob started sealing driveways and steadily grew the business each summer until he graduated from college. That's when he decided to devote all his resources and energy to growing the business and doing it the right way - by working to assure the satisfaction of each and every client for the work performed.

Residential paving jobs soon shifted to larger projects for churches, private schools and apartment complexes. That led to expansion into site construction where we acted as general contractors.  Our company's rapid growth soon landed us among Inc. magazine's fastest growing private companies in America.

Today, the Byrne & Jones family of companies now includes several divisions: asphalt, concrete, soil stabilization, sports construction, micro-surfacing and marine.

Responsibilities include but are NOT limited to:

 - Safely drives dump truck to destinations applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and of roads in the area. Delivering rock and/or asphalt to our project sites and crews.

 - Ability to load and haul equipment on TAG tri-axle trailers behind dump truck. Equipment might typically include pavers and skidsteers.

 - Makes daily pre/post trip inspections on assigned vehicle and trailer in order to maintain maximum vehicle safety conditions and to check for any damaged or non-working parts.

 - Maintains a truck log in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policy.

 - Communicates regularly with operations manager to ensure that delivery schedule is being followed and that any problems with traffic or with site conditions are reported promptly.

 - Complies with all aspects of truck maintenance, cleanliness and repair in accordance with the guidelines specified by company policy.

 - Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements include but are NOT limited to:

 - Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License and good driving history is required.

 - High school diploma or GED is required.

 - Must be physically able to operate, move about, and maintain a dump truck.

 - Must pass, or have recently passed DOT physical.

 - Willingness to learn and adapt to change.
