Job Description - CDL Pump Truck Driver - Abilene, TX

CDL Pump Truck Driver – [Abilene, TX] Full-time · Non-exempt · $25–$28/hour · [Schedule, e.g. Mon–Fri, 5am start, some weekends]

About Doodie Calls We take care of the dirty work, so our customers don't have to. Since 2018 we've grown into a portable sanitation company working out of 4 states, serving construction sites, homes, special events and disaster relief. We're the official partner of the Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium and Florida State Athletics. Our drivers keep all of that running, and we back them with a dispatch team, district managers and office staff who pick up the phone.

How we work matters just as much as the work we do. The Doodie Calls Way is our commitment to being People Focused, putting Safety First, acting with Integrity, pursuing Operational Excellence, and delivering an exceptional Customer Experience. These values guide how we work together, serve our customers, and continue to grow.

The job You'll run a pump truck on a set route. At each stop you service portable restrooms: pump the tanks, clean and restock the units, and keep things moving. You'll finish the day at the disposal site. It's physical, outdoor work with real responsibility for the truck and for being on time.

What You’ll Do

  • Do your pre-trip inspection and log it before rolling out

  • Work your route: pump, clean, sanitize and restock each unit

  • Safely back up, park, and maneuver large service trucks and multi-unit trailers into tight or uneven spaces on active jobsites.

  • Keep dispatch posted on delays, site problems, breakdowns or accidents

  • Unload at the approved disposal site and keep your dump, mileage and service logs

  • Refuel, handle basic upkeep and flag anything the shop needs to fix

What We’re Looking For

  • Class A or B CDL; tanker endorsement preferred (Hazmat a plus)

  • 3+ years of commercial driving experience

  • 5-year driving record that passes our insurance review

  • Comfortable with automatic and manual transmissions; trailer or vac-trailer experience a plus

  • Current DOT medical card, and able to pass a DOT Clearinghouse query

  • Available for some nights, weekends and holidays, including storm and event surges

What Success Looks Like

As a CDL Pump Truck Driver, success goes far beyond just driving a truck—it means delivering an elite standard of sanitation that keeps our clients' job sites running smoothly. A successful driver in this role achieves the following:

  • High-Volume Efficiency: You master your route to safely execute 30 to 50+ service stops per day, navigating tight alleys and busy construction zones without incidents or delays.

  • The "Like-New" Standard: You take pride in your work, ensuring every single portable unit is perfectly pumped, power-washed, chemically recharged, and fully restocked at every visit.

  • Elite Truck & Tank Management: You drive defensively to smoothly manage liquid tank "slosh" and proactively monitor your vacuum pump and PTO systems to prevent mechanical breakdowns.

  • Proactive Problem-Solving: When a unit is blocked or inaccessible, you don't just drive away—you coordinate directly with the site foreman to find a solution or document the issue immediately on our routing app.

  • Flawless Compliance: You maintain an immaculate commercial driving record, complete rigorous daily pre-trip inspections, and ensure 100% legal waste disposal at authorized municipal facilities.

What we provide

  • $25–$28/hour, plus overtime when routes run long

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, and supplemental plans

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Paid time off

  • Employee Assistance Program

  • Employee Discount Program

  • A truck, uniforms and on-route training, plus a path to Lead Driver and beyond

  • Referral bonus

Physical requirements Climbing in and out of the truck many times a day. Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Handling hoses. Bending and kneeling. Working outdoors in heat, rain and cold. A pre-employment fitness-for-duty exam confirms you can safely do these tasks.

How hiring works

  1. Apply, then take a short phone screen with our recruiting team.

  2. Interview with your local manager.

  3. We run your driver's license through our insurance review, usually the same day.

  4. You get an offer to review and sign online.

  5. You complete one online application. Your drug and alcohol test, fitness exam and background check are all ordered at once, and you get a text to schedule the tests.

  6. Once everything clears, we confirm your start date.
