Job Description - CDL-A Regional Driver

South Jersey drivers: Northeast regional freight, and 1,900 miles a week unlocks weekends off.

Drop and hook in most cases, no NYC boroughs, and home time you can shape. New CDL grads ride with a paid mentor first.

What you earn

  • Paid every week during training
  • $1,000 a week guaranteed for your first 3 months solo
  • $1,300 to $2,000 a week once solo
  • $0.55 a mile to start, +$0.01 a year up to $0.65
  • 1,500 to 2,800 miles a week
  • Weekly direct deposit

Your week

Regional lanes from Virginia up through the Northeast, staying out of New York City. Mostly drop and hook, some live loads and unloads. Home every two weeks for two full days.

What new drivers ask us

  • "How often will I see home?" On 34-hour resets or every two weeks. Run 1,900 miles in a week and your weekend is off.
  • "Will one ticket disqualify me?" Not by itself. Up to 2 moving violations in the past 2 years is accepted.
  • "Does my CDL school count?" If it was 120 hours or more, yes.
  • "I am not good at backing yet." Nobody is on day one. You practice for weeks with a mentor beside you before you drive alone.
  • "What if my first solo weeks are slow?" You still get at least $1,000 a week for your first 3 months solo.

What happens after you apply

A recruiter calls the same business day and goes over your license and record with you. Orientation takes 2 days at most; the hotel is covered, your bus ticket is reimbursed, and you get $300 for attending once hired. Then you ride 4 to 6 weeks with a mentor who coaches you on backing, logs, fueling and trip planning, and you are paid every week while you learn. When you are ready, you get your own assigned truck, about 1.5 years old on average. For your first 3 months solo, your pay will not drop below $1,000 a week.

What you need

  • Class A CDL from your state of residence, 21 or older
  • New CDL grad with 120+ school hours, or 6 months of recent experience
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the past 2 years
  • No DUI/DWI in the past 10 years
  • DOT physical and hair and urine drug screen

Benefits after 30 days

  • Medical, dental, vision and prescription
  • 401(k) and employee stock purchase plan
  • Paid time off and yearly raises
  • Free online degree for you and one family member
  • Pet and rider programs (your dog can ride with you once training is done)
