Sylvan Learning Center - Hiring for Highly Skilled Center Assistant

As a talented Center Assistant, you will be the friendly first point of contact for families, helping them feel cared for and supported. This role offers a chance to develop your communication, scheduling, and customer service skills in a positive and supportive setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make warm, personalized follow-up calls, texts, and emails to families who have expressed interest but haven't scheduled yet
  • Confirm and remind families of upcoming assessment appointments to reduce no-shows
  • Manage daily schedule changes, cancellations, and rescheduling requests with accuracy and calm
  • Keep the enrollment tracking system updated with every contact and status
  • Prepare clear briefs for the afternoon team about incoming families and relevant notes
  • Support front desk operations by answering phones and greeting families with enthusiasm
  • Assist with student assessments when center volume requires
  • Perform light administrative tasks as needed

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate of $15 – $18 based on experience
  • Morning shift schedule: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM & Occassional Saturdays, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM (15-25 hours/week)
  • Opportunity to extend hours into the afternoon for assessments and additional support
  • Growth potential with expanded hours and responsibilities as the center grows

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; some college preferred
  • 1+ years of customer service, administrative, or phone-based support experience
  • Comfortable making outbound calls with warm, clear, and professional communication
  • Strong written communication skills for texting and emailing
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; familiarity with Google Workspace or scheduling tools a plus
  • Experience in education, healthcare, sales or service environments is a bonus
  • Calm under pressure, proactive, and genuinely caring about families
