How you'll contribute

A Central Sterile Technician (Non-Certified) who excels in this role:

  • Decontaminate, clean, and disinfect surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established infection control protocols

  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage, ensuring all equipment meets safety and quality standards

  • Assemble, wrap, and package instrument trays and supplies for sterilization

  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, ensuring proper parameters and documentation are maintained

  • Label, track, and distribute sterile supplies and equipment to appropriate departments in a timely manner

  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, biological testing, and inventory levels

  • Store sterile instruments and supplies properly to preserve sterility and organization within the department

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a High School Diploma (or equivalent). Additional requirements include:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

  • CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) preferred

  • Completion of at least 400 clinical hours in a hospital-based setting required (online-only certification programs are not accepted)

  • Current BLS certification required within 30 days of hire

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Knowledge of sterile processing, infection control practices, and instrumentation handling
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in decontamination, sterilization, and tray assembly
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to support collaboration with clinical departments
