Minimum Entrance Requirements\: 

Applicants must have at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part- time, experience in storekeeping work in a storeroom, stockroom or warehouse, the major duties of which included receiving, storing and issuing supplies and equipment. 

Special Requirements\: None.

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.

The Department of Public Health at Tewksbury Hospital is accepting applications for a Central Supply Technician (Storekeeper II).  The role ensures clinical departments have the supplies, equipment, and sterile instruments they need to deliver high-quality care. Please Note\: This position is 40 hours per week, working first shift. Days off are Saturday and Sunday. 

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

·         Receives all supplies/equipment delivered to the hospital through the storehouse loading dock and/or Central Supply Department by various vendors.

·         Checks all documentation against the products delivered for accuracy prior to accepting delivery. Utilizes the packing list and purchase order to verify the description and quantity of delivered products are correct.

·         Properly routes copies of receiving documentation to the Coordinator for processing.

·         Ensures that all original receiving documentation is sent to General Services Department (Storehouse).

·         Properly disburses all supplies/equipment to various locations within the main hospital facility as directed.

·         Maintains all areas of Storehouse and/or Central Supply in a clean, neat and organized manner.

·         Ensures all supplies are properly rotated taking note of expiration dates and employs a first in first out method of distribution.

·         Delivers supplies to various departments per assigned schedules and ensures that the proper quantity of each item is delivered on time.

·         Understands how to prioritize daily responsibilities to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and assist will overall department needs.

·         Provides outstanding customer service when responding to incoming calls and walk-up requests for supplies.

Required Qualifications:

·         Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned department activities.

·         Ability to make arithmetical computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) with speed and accuracy.

·         Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.

·         Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

·         Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols.

·         Ability to lift and carry heavyweight objects.

·         Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.

·         This position requires physical stamina and endurance.

·         Knowledge of standard storekeeping methods and practices, including the receipt, storage, issuance and delivery of varied stock items including perishable goods.

·         Knowledge of the proper storage methods such as palletizing, binning, shrink wrapping, etc.

·         Knowledge of the types and uses of materials handling equipment used in storekeeping.

Preferred Qualifications: 

·         Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, policies procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities.

·         Knowledge of the State procedures governing the purchasing and requisitioning of supplies and equipment.

·         Knowledge of the types and uses of agency forms.

·         Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of supervision.

·         Skill in the operations of materials handling equipment used in storekeeping such as forklifts, hand trucks, dollies, etc.
