Description of Work
The Community Employment Program Specialist (CEPS) provides direct supervision and instruction to individuals with developmental disabilities to prepare them for supported and competitive employment. This role focuses on teaching job-specific tasks, appropriate work habits, and essential community living skills in a variety of settings, including competitive work sites, workshop environments, and mobile crews. The CEPS evaluates, observes, and documents individual progress toward established vocational and habilitative goals. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records of time worked and tasks completed by each individual. The specialist analyzes job duties, breaks them into manageable components, and delivers structured, task-oriented training to promote skill mastery and independence. Additionally, the CEPS provides on-site supervision, supportive counseling, and reinforcement of positive work behaviors while ensuring compliance with state regulations and vocational program standards.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs )/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
Working knowledge of diverse work environments (e.g., manufacturing, service, trades) and their respective job requirements, with the ability to build effective working relationships with employers, human service professionals, and individuals served.
Proficiency in documenting time, performance data, and training methods; ability to interpret data, assess outcomes, and recommend targeted areas for continued skill development.
Capacity to learn and apply marketing strategies, behavior management techniques, goal development, task analysis, instructional methodologies, and to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and wage and hour regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a minimum of a high school diploma and at least three consecutive years of experience providing instruction to individuals with developmental disabilities, preferably including task analysis.
Management Preference: Experience in vocational work settings with knowledge of wage and hour guidelines and timekeeping requirements for employed individuals; experience providing vocational instruction to the adult ID/DD population in sheltered workshop and community settings. Successful completion of NCI and CPR, possession of a clear valid driver’s license, and experience operating oversized delivery vehicles, forklifts, and hand carts. Demonstrated understanding of ICF regulations and the interdisciplinary process, along with strong written communication skills, the ability to follow written and verbal directions, recognize and resolve problems, maintain effective organization, and adapt to changing daily routines.

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference

Bachelor’s degree in a human services or business field such as human resources, marketing, business administration, business management, healthcare management, or public administration from an appropriately accredited institution

High school or General Educational Development (GED) and four years of directly related work experience
