Position Summary:
The Dialysis Technician provides care to patients with end-stage renal disease, supporting clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process to deliver prescribed treatments. Our Dialysis Technicians are an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in ensuring safe care and the highest quality outcomes for every patient.
Basic Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills
Desire to collaborate and perform as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Ability to problem solve
High school diploma or a GED state certification is required
Requires and maintains a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) or Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) certification.
Requires and maintains a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire.)
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Actively participate in infection control, risk management and patient education activities
Guide new patients through education related to dialysis.
Obtain and record patient vital signs and machine readings during treatment
Role under RN and LPN supervision
Set up and break down dialysis blood system for treatment
Insert and remove patient access needles
Monitor patients during dialysis, document changes and inform charge nurse of any concerns
Calculate patient’s weight loss to reach dry weight
Determine patient care priorities and organize workload accordingly
Maintain professional working relationship, observing patient privacy and rights
Maintain and track inventory
Perform laboratory work
