Job Description - Certified Medical Assistant

Covenant Family Solutions is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Client Care Specialist who is a Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. This position can work from home, but candidates must reside in Iowa and be available to work Monday through Friday during operating business hours. Some time working in the office may be required for training, meetings or company events.

As a Client Care Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing direct care to clients through various channels, ensuring their needs are met with empathy and professionalism. 🌟 Responsibilities:

  • Answering and directing phone calls to the appropriate department, while gathering necessary information to address caller inquiries.
  • Managing appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations.
  • Handling medication concerns and side effects information from clients, forwarding the information to the provider, and following provider recommendations.
  • Manage medication refill requests, provide necessary information to the provider, and follow provider recommendations.
  • Communicating directly with pharmacies regarding client prescriptions.
  • Engaging with referral sources under the guidance of a Nurse Practitioners to obtain necessary information.
  • Providing clients with community resource information.
  • Collaborating with the provider to observe the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP).
  • Assisting with Prior Authorization processes as needed.
  • Completing Medication Sample Inventory on a weekly basis.
  • Handling fax communication, release of information, and collection of completed assessment tools.
  • Verify and update client information in the electronic health record.
  • Uploading lab results into the Electronic Health Record.
  • Assisting providers in completing external paperwork (FMLA, referral, disability, etc.).
  • Attending clinical and operational meetings.
  • Providing information to call center and administrative teams on relevant activities and services.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager. 
🌟 Requirements:
  • Must have active State of Iowa license
  • Ability to handle medical records discreetly.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health issues and terminology.
  • Strong multitasking skills, performing well in stressful situations.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers and word processing software.
🌟 Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related/relevant field is preferred.
  • A certified medical assistant or licensed practical nurse is required. 
🌟 Experience:
  • Preferred two years of experience in the behavioral health field or related field assisting providers.
  • Understanding of different psychotropic medications.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record systems for accurate record-keeping.
