In this role, you will:
Prepare chemotherapeutic and biologic medications under aseptic technique, adhering to USP 797/800 guidelines and ensuring accurate drug dosage and volume through mathematical calculations.
Utilize appropriate PPE, ventilation equipment, and safety devices in compliance with organizational and manufacturer guidelines.
Verify patient information to ensure drug preparation matches the physician's order, and maintain proper control documentation including lot numbers.
Safely handle and dispose of hazardous drugs and waste materials according to OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
Support drug inventory management, including conducting routine inventories, monitoring expired drugs, ordering supplies, and utilizing the Nucleus Drug Management System for accurate stock control.
Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the medication preparation areas, including hoods and surrounding areas.
Administer medications and perform clinical tasks such as administering injections, recording vital signs, and documenting in the patient's electronic medical record.
Perform administrative tasks, including form completions, prescription refills, referrals, and responding to patient calls and electronic messages.
Follow universal precautions, perform proper infection control practices, and assist in ensuring patient safety by minimizing healthcare errors.
Participate in team meetings (e.g., AM huddle) and perform other duties as assigned.
We require:
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with PTCB, Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Hospital or outpatient infusion setting experience that includes IV compounding of chemo and non-chemo infusions (Preferred)
Previous Oncology experience (Preferred)
Recent venipuncture, Chemo or IV experience.
2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician (Preferred)
Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
Knowledge of hazardous drugs and safe handling precautions
Ability to effectively work as part of a team in a high volume/fast-paced environment while in a self-directed role
Candidates should be detail oriented, organized and dedicated to helping people
Proficiency in regulatory USP 797/800 guidelines
