Actual Veggies is a fast-growing, veggie-forward food company on a mission to make eating vegetables more craveable, convenient, and fun. We make clean-label, chef-inspired veggie burgers and super fries that help consumers eat less meat and more real vegetables without sacrificing taste. Launched in 2021, our products are now available nationally in over 12,000 retail doors, including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Kroger, and Albertsons/Safeway.

What You Will Do

We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer to partner closely with our Finance, Operations, and Sales teams to drive financial performance across the business. This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations, providing insight, discipline, and decision support to help scale a high-growth CPG food brand.

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic thought partnership to the CEOs of the Company as a member of the Actual Veggies leadership team.


• Develop and execute the Company's financial strategy, aligning with overall business objectives.


• Support the effective decision making of the business through a managerial finance lens.


• Lead the annual planning process, partnering cross functionally to build a plan that achieves company goals.


• Present financials and key insights to the Leadership Team and Board, and support board material preparation and investor communications.


• Lead special projects and analysis such as long-range planning, pricing, and customer profitability, supporting innovation and new product development along the way.


• Partner with the Operations team to provide financial leadership on manufacturing costs, capital investments, freight, warehousing, and inventory.


• Lead operations-related forecasting and planning, including COGS, logistics, and other operations costs.


• Own, analyze, and optimize COGS, including raw material, packaging, tolling, and logistics costs.


• Identify cost-saving opportunities and margin improvement initiatives and partner cross functionally to execute them.


• Act as the finance lead for S&OP / demand and supply planning processes, partnering across sales, finance, and operations to optimize demand & supply.


• Partner with the head of Operations to support production planning to maintain best in class fill rates while managing inventory levels, working capital, and spoilage.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.


• 10+ years of experience in finance (CPG or food & beverage strongly preferred).


• Proven track record of developing and executing successful financial strategies.


• Strong understanding of COGS, inventory accounting, and Financial Statements.


• Advanced Excel financial modeling skills.


• Ability to translate complex data into clear insights for non-finance partners.


• A hands-on (“no job is too small”) mentality.


• Strong business partnership and communication skills.


• Detail-oriented with the ability to zoom out strategically.


• Comfortable working in ambiguity and a high-growth environment.


• Proactive, ownership mindset with strong follow-through.
