Chief Lending Officer

Angott Search Group is partnering with a Michigan Bank in the search for a Chief Lending Officer.

This executive will lead the Bank’s lending strategy, growth, and overall performance across commercial, real estate, agricultural, mortgage, and consumer lending, while maintaining a disciplined approach to credit quality and risk management.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a lending strategy aligned with the Bank’s strategic plan and community banking mission.
• Lead profitable loan growth across commercial, industrial, CRE, agricultural, residential mortgage, and consumer lending.
• Identify new lending opportunities and market niches within the Bank’s risk appetite.
• Oversee loan origination, structuring, pricing, and relationship management.
• Ensure lending practices align with Board-approved policies, procedures, and credit standards.
• Partner with the Chief Credit Officer on portfolio performance, policy interpretation, and emerging credit risks.
• Lead, coach, and develop the lending team while establishing production goals and performance expectations.
• Maintain strong relationships with key customers, professionals, and community partners.
• Participate in loan committees, portfolio reviews, concentration monitoring, and stress testing.
• Provide senior management and Board reporting on loan growth, pipeline activity, market conditions, and competitive trends.
• Support budgeting, capital planning, and strategic planning initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred.
• 10–15 years of progressive lending experience within a community or regional bank.
• Strong commercial and real estate lending experience, preferably within Michigan markets.
• Proven leadership and relationship management experience.
• Strong understanding of bank credit practices, FDIC regulations, Michigan DIFS requirements, and safety-and-soundness standards.
• Ability to balance lending growth with disciplined credit risk management.
• Strong collaboration skills with credit, compliance, operations, and executive leadership.
