Chief Software Architect

Large Financial Firm located in NY needs:

 Chief Software Architect

•    At least eight years commercial experience defining and delivering enterprise software architectures.
•    Strong knowledge of software design and architectural patterns. Ability to serve as a subject matter expert for software and architectural frameworks, methods and tools.
•    Solid software development life-cycle experience, and a proven record of designing and delivering large scale applications

Responsibilities:

• help shape the future enterprise software architecture to continue to meet the challenges of the years ahead.  
• Aproven track record as a technical visionary and strategist with the drive to define a reference architecture that unifies company solutions as we continue to aggressively grow our business.
• will report directly to the CTO, EVP of Product Development and lead a focused team of software architects. This team will work closely with development teams in New York, London, Sydney, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Vienna and Bangalore so the role will on occasions necessitate international travel. 
• A pragmatic approach to the challenges that the role presents is essential since any future company reference architecture needs to be both technically and commercially viable. As such, previous experience working to define and deliver a unifying enterprise software architecture to an established product set would be advantageous.
  
• Preference will be given to individuals who relish a real business/technology challenge with a strong emphasis in software design & architecture.
• Will be accountable for documentation of current and future state architectures, the role will require leadership in efforts involving strong technical expertise, with responsibilities that may include setting goals and developing strategies, problem analysis and uncovering requirements, developing and tracking roadmaps and plans, leading build/buy decisions and vendor selection efforts, review and approval of analysis, design and other work performed by others.

Requirements:

•    At least eight years commercial experience defining and delivering enterprise software architectures.
•    Strong knowledge of software design and architectural patterns. Ability to serve as a subject matter expert for software and architectural frameworks, methods and tools.
•    Solid software development life-cycle experience, and a proven record of designing and delivering large scale applications
•    Solid experience in OOAD (Object Oriented Analysis and Design)
•    Sound understanding of distributed systems, virtualization, open source and Cloud technologies
•    Experience with legacy systems and phased application integration
•    Excellent presentation skills. Comfortable interacting at board level both internally and to our customers, many of whom are Fortune 500.
•    Ability to deliver expert advice, guidance and thought leadership to customers on use of technology
•    Familiarity with technical modeling approaches (e.g., UML, E/R diagrams, flowcharting) and the ability to create effective diagrams and design documentation
•    Understanding of issues surrounding availability, redundancy and fault-tolerance; performance and load balancing; monitoring; diagnostics and security 
•    Ability to lead through influence. The Chief Software Architect must be able to quickly establish technical credibility with technical teams
•    Strong intellectual honesty, with the ability to deliver and receive constructive criticism, to accept somebody else’s idea when its better, and disagree in a constructive fashion
•    Degree in computer science or numerate subject

Base salary to 180K
