Location: La Mesa, CA — Full-time in-office for the first 90 days, followed by the opportunity to transition to a flexible hybrid schedule.

Note: An active California Bar license in good standing and 2+ years of civil litigation experience are required. Community association or HOA litigation experience is preferred but is not required.

Job Description

  • Manage civil litigation matters on behalf of community associations and related clients.
  • Develop case strategy and provide practical legal recommendations to clients.
  • Handle matters involving CC&R enforcement, contract and business disputes, and breach of fiduciary duty claims.
  • Represent clients in assessment enforcement and property damage litigation.
  • Handle fair housing, ADA, and construction-related litigation matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct and respond to discovery while developing case strategy throughout the litigation lifecycle.
  • Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
  • Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and other proceedings.
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to deliver efficient, high-quality legal representation.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license in good standing.
  • 2+ years of civil litigation experience.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Strong organization, judgment, and case-management abilities.
  • Excellent client-service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative litigation team.
  • Community association, HOA, real estate, construction, or related litigation experience is a plus.
