Job Summary
We’re seeking a dynamic Billing & Collections Supervisor to lead our billing, collections, and outreach teams. This working supervisor role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring staff, and has a strong grasp of third-party payer systems and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Staff Development
- Lead and coordinate billing, collections, and outreach staff
- Recruit, train, and evaluate team members
- Facilitate regular team meetings and promote a positive work culture
Billing & Collections Oversight
- Maintain accounts receivable under 30 days
- Approve patient account adjustments and oversee statement cycles
- Conduct quarterly coding, denial, and slide audits
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure HIPAA and regulatory compliance
- Provider Credentialing
- Build and maintain reports for copays, account balances, bad debt, and more
- Stay informed on healthcare trends and regulatory changes
General Duties
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and clients
- Assist in other clinic areas as needed
- Attend management meetings and training sessions
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (2–3 years in billing/coding)
- Strong knowledge of third-party payer systems, coding, and insurance procedures
- Excellent communication and computer skills (Windows-based environment)
- Ability to manage staff performance and foster collaboration
- Understanding of HIPAA and compliance regulations
- Reliable transportation for occasional travel between clinics or training sessions
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college coursework in healthcare or business
- Two years of recent experience in medical/dental billing and coding
- Prior supervisory experience
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance systems
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs
- Quiet office or hybrid environment with occasional travel
