Clinical Assistant Professor, Quantitative Methods

Job Summary

The Daniels School of Business at Purdue University invites applications for a clinical assistant faculty position in the Department of Quantitative Methods beginning in Fall 2027. The position is non-tenure track and promotable to higher academic ranks.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include a combination of the following:

• Developing instructional materials and teaching and coordinating undergraduate courses in data and analytics, such as Business Statistics, Management Science, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Advanced Spreadsheet Modeling, and emerging AI topics including generative AI, large language models, and agentic AI.


• Developing and supervising experiential learning courses and projects for students in the undergraduate programs, and representing the Department of Quantitative Methods in existing program management and new program development within the school.


• Developing and teaching graduate-level quantitative methods and analytics courses for residential master’s programs and the Online Master of Science in Business Analytics (Online MSBA) program.


• Mentoring students in their academic and professional development, including the development of analytical capabilities and preparation for careers in business analytics and related fields.


• Engaging with academic and business communities to stay current with emerging developments in business analytics and AI; collaborating with relevant professionals and organizations; and translating these developments into timely and relevant curricula and student learning experiences.

The position carries an annual workload of 18 credit hours of teaching (approximately six undergraduate sections or nine master’s sections) and 9 credit hours of service. Service responsibilities may contribute to the administration, operation, and development of the department, the Daniels School of Business, Purdue University, and the profession. Clinical faculty are also expected to engage proactively with businesses, professional organizations, and other external communities relevant to their disciplines.

Minimum Requiremements

• A Ph.D. or M.A./M.S. in Quantitative Methods or a related field, with demonstrated teaching experience at the college level. The degree must be completed before the first day of Purdue University’s Fall 2027 semester.


• Evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as student course evaluations or other documentation of successful college-level instruction.


• Evidence of experience developing, organizing, and/or supervising experiential learning projects, programs, or events.


• Familiarity with current AI methods and tools and an interest in incorporating emerging AI capabilities into analytics education.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty colleagues, program administrators, and external stakeholders.
