The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Clinical Staff Leader is a direct supervisory leadership role and a key member of the Nursing leadership team. The CSL leads a cohort of staff members and actively participates in overall management of the unit, development of clinical practice, and provision of patient care with accountabilities for implementation and outcomes for people leadership, quality, service, compliance, finance, throughput and scheduling. The primary focus of the Clinical Staff Leader is to ensure the unit's optimal performance by engaging in effective problem solving for staff, patients and families and to develop/lead the assigned cohort. The Clinical Staff Leader provides feedback and coaching to staff members, recognizing them for their contributions while fostering a high performance culture. The CSL/ Assistant Nurse Manager works under the guidance and direction of the manager to develop..
SHIFT: This is a 40-hour-a-week role that consists of two night shifts (7p-7a) staffing requirements, in which the leader will primarily work as a Staff Leader, and a required 16 additional administrative hours.
UNIT: We are a 19-23 bed unit and care for pediatric patients ranging from newborns to 18 years of age who are being treated for congenital heart defects and/or acquired heart disease.
Our patients are unique because we are the only program in a 200-mile radius with the expertise to treat their specific cardiac conditions.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
• Join a highly skilled, mission‑driven team caring for some of the sickest and most complex congenital heart patients in the region.
• Collaborate closely with intensivists, APPs, cardiology teams, and a multidisciplinary group dedicated to exceptional family‑centered care.
• Grow professionally in a Level I pediatric cardiac ICU that provides postoperative care for neonates, infants, and children with complex congenital heart disease—including single‑ventricle physiology, mechanical circulatory support, and ECMO.
• Contribute to a culture known for teamwork, psychological safety, and continuous improvement in outcomes for high‑acuity cardiac patients.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
• Registered Nurse with at least two years of experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Leadership experience preferred
• Strongly prefer PCICU or high‑acuity pediatric critical care experience
