CNA Coordinator - Hospice (Tuesday - Saturday)

The CNA Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospice home health aide staff. This position will be responsible for hiring, training, retention, and scheduling of the home health aides in conjunction with the demands of the hospice program. The CNA Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the annual supervisory requirements for the home health aides have been met and competencies are completed and accurate. This position also manages the supply inventory with oversight from the Executive Director (or designee).

Essential Job Functions:

1. Assists with hiring, training, and retention of CNA staff to meet the demands of the hospice agency
2. Ensures that new CNAs have and maintain proper credentials per state, federal and CHAP requirements
3. Meets all competency requirements as required by state, federal and CHAP guidelines
4. Schedules CNAs according to the individualized Plan of Care established by the RN Case Manager for each patient
5. Serves as the point of contact for patients and/or caregivers for CNA scheduling needs, concerns and grievances
6. Is responsible for the coordinating, ordering, and maintaining records of the ProCare Hospice supply needs
7. Immediately reports any changes of staff to the RN Case Manager and Director of Nursing or designee
8. Coordinates delivery of materials or supplies with patient supply companies to a schedule within business hours that is not disruptive to IDT meetings or other training
9. Educates CNA staff on the use and potential hazards of patient care supplies, when necessary
10. Generates miscellaneous patient reports when needed
11. Participates in Performance Improvement Activities as requested
12. Participates in QAPI Compliance goals for CNA documentation
13. Completes appropriate documentation in a legible and timely manner
14. Ensures CNA compliance with attending staff meetings and in-service training
15. Stays current with all mandatory agency and regulatory requirements
16. Other duties as assigned

Physical/Safety Requirements:

1. Must have the strength and endurance required for standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing & pulling on a consistent basis up to 50 lbs.; must be able to go up and down stairs carrying up to 20 lbs.
2. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
3. Must have the strength and endurance required for sitting for lengthy periods of time
4. Must possess sight/hearing and speech senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position are fully met
5. Category 2 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Does not usually require the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but Category 2 tasks may require the unexpected performance of these procedures.)
6. Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and idiosyncrasies of people
7. Must be able to comprehend English and follow oral and written instructions
8. Must utilize appropriate PPE as needed
9. Must be able to follow the designated plan of action in the event of a fire or other emergency
10. Must use appropriate body mechanics as needed 
11. While performing the duties of this job, the employee needs to be able to handle work- related stresses
12. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Licensed as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing in the State of Nevada (preferred)
2. Prefer 1 year experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in hospice, home health or geriatric care
3. Successful completion of a background check pursuant to NRS 449.188 and NRS 179A.100 along with a pre-employment drug screen and physical, TB testing, previous employment and reference checking, and an MVR (may include verification of education) 
4. Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
5. Must be able to cope with emotionally charged situations encompassing patients, families and other caregivers
6. Must be available for pre-scheduled, on-call hours, weekends, and holiday as needed
7. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and maintain current auto insurance 
8. Must have CPR/BLS Certification
