Medical Billing Specialist (*MUST ALREADY RESIDE IN MONTANA-NOT a REMOTE POSITION*)

Job Summary:
Coder Applies the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. Non-exempt

How you'll contribute: 

• Assigns accurate ICD diagnosis codes, using compliant documentation. 
• This position entails pro-fee coding, data entry, claims worklists, denial review and any other duties as assigned. 
• Some responsibilities will cross over to the Revenue Cycle Billing tasks.
• Assigns accurate CPT/HCPCS codes to records, using compliant documentation. 
• Applies knowledge of Coding Guidelines to select the appropriate diagnosis code. 
• Uses available research and reference tools to understand the disease process and diagnosis. 
• Interprets physician documentation within the coding guidelines and obtains clarification from physicians regarding vague or ambiguous record documentation. 
• Enhances coding knowledge and skills with continuing education activities as described in HIM.COD.003 policy and by reviewing pertinent literature.
• Perform other duties as assigned

What we're looking for:  

•  Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Required;
• Required: CPC or at least 2 years in a medical setting and in-progress to get CPC. Required License: Certified Coder Certifications: CPC in progress or completed
