Collection Manager & Registrar
The Collection Manager and Registrar safeguards the cultural and natural heritage of the Uinta Basin by overseeing the preservation, care, and comprehensive documentation of the Regional History Center’s collections. This role is responsible for the safe handling, movement, and storage of all artifacts, while meticulously maintaining the archive’s collection management database—including records for acquisitions, loans, exhibits, and deaccessions. Daily operations involve monitoring environmental controls, conducting regular inventories, implementing pest management protocols, and photographing collection items. Additionally, the position supports exhibition planning and installation, assists researchers and the public with archive access, and helps develop institutional collection policies. Acting as a collaborative team player, the incumbent coordinates loans with local organizations, provides direct supervision and training to archive clerks, interns, and volunteers, and steps in as the person in charge during designated shifts or as assigned by the RHC Supervisor.
Educational requirements for this position include an Associate’s degree or two years of undergraduate coursework in Museum and Archive Studies, History, Art History, Education, Library Sciences, Anthropology, or a closely related field. Additionally, candidates must have at least two years of professional experience in program development or museum education. The role also requires a proven capability to engage effectively with diverse audiences and a valid driver's license. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities are also encouraged to apply.
