POSITION OVERVIEW
The College Pathways Manager serves as a motivator, advisor, and resource for members in grades 6–12, supporting academic achievement, college awareness, and post-secondary planning. Reporting to the Director of Academic Success and working closely with Club leadership, the position provides individualized advising, targeted academic support, and college-access programming that guides members from middle school through high school graduation and the post-secondary planning process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Commitment to Excellence in College Access and Post-Secondary Planning
- Provide early college-awareness activities and college-transition workshops that help members understand and prepare for post-secondary opportunities.
- Provide individualized support throughout the college application process to help members identify and pursue post-secondary options aligned with their goals.
- Guide members and families through financial aid processes, including FAFSA and CSS Profile, and support their understanding of financial aid options.
- Assist high school seniors in identifying and applying for scholarships by providing guidance on eligibility requirements, applications, and deadlines.
- Manage and track graduating seniors’ college application and financial aid processes to support accurate and timely completion of required materials.
Youth and Family Advising, Engagement, and Academic Support
- Build strong, individualized relationships with a diverse caseload of at least 50% of high school youth and their families to support academic growth and post-secondary planning.
- Conduct required advising sessions with high school seniors and pre-teens in accordance with Academic Success program standards to support academic and post-secondary readiness.
- Provide timely, proactive support and connect members with appropriate resources to address academic and social-emotional needs.
Program Development, Facilitation, and Student Transitions
- Lead the planning and implementation of college access programming, including College Club, Counselors-In-Training, College Week, Massachusetts & New England College Tour, and HBCU Tour.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops, college fairs, family-engagement sessions, and other activities related to college access and post-secondary planning.
- Support members’ transitions from middle school to high school and from high school to post-secondary education through structured programming and individualized advising.
- Collaborate with teen education staff and Club leadership to align academic supports and strategies that promote member success.
- Co-facilitate the Counselors-In-Training summer program and related activities.
Partnerships, Volunteer Coordination, and Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate and schedule academic volunteers and tutors in collaboration with the MHK Volunteer Manager to ensure effective academic support.
- Participate in tours and visits with stakeholders and donors and provide information regarding college-access and Academic Success programming.
- Develop and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, community partners, and funding partners that expand post-secondary opportunities for members.
Data Management, Program Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate member records and use databases and data-tracking tools to monitor academic and post-secondary progress and support program evaluation.
- Gather and use member, family, staff, and program feedback to support accountability and continuous improvement.
- Complete annual learning, development, and program requirements identified in Academic Success department standards.
- Maintain required professional memberships and complete college-access and Academic Success training as assigned by the Director of Academic Success.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Success.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Two to four years of experience in college access, secondary education, youth development, or an educational nonprofit setting.
- Direct experience delivering educational, academic, or college-access programming for teens.Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, scholarship processes, and post-secondary planning.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and track and analyze student progress using data-management systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively in individual, small-group, workshop, and public-speaking settings.Knowledge of barriers that may affect first-generation, low-income, and other students pursuing post-secondary education.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt advising and program strategies to meet diverse member needs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database or student-tracking systems.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills with the ability to engage members, families, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work Club hours, including occasional evenings and Saturdays, as program and service needs change.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds as needed.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during college tours, events, and other program activities.
Preferred or Ideal
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, human services, youth development, higher education, or a related field; equivalent relevant education and experience considered.
- Experience working in an out-of-school-time, community-based, or youth-serving organization.
- Experience supporting students and families with FAFSA, CSS Profile, scholarship applications, and college admissions processes.
- Experience developing relationships with colleges, universities, volunteers, or community partners.
TRAVEL
Travel between BGCB sites and to colleges, universities, tours, events, and other program activities as required.

SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary - $56,800/year - $66,950/year - commensurate with experience; along with competitive benefits and a great work environment
