Position Overview
The CSCDEP Faculty Member delivers graduate-level instruction across a range of professional military education courses. Faculty are responsible for facilitating seminar-based learning, leading discussions, and mentoring students in areas related to warfighting, national security, operational art, and joint and expeditionary operations. Instruction is conducted using a Socratic, discussion-based methodology.

- 8901: Theory and Nature of War
- 8902: National and International Security Studies
- 8903: Operational Art
- 8904: Joint Operations
- 8905: Small Wars
- 8906: MAGTF Expeditionary Operations
- 8907: Naval Expeditionary Operations
- 8908: Operation Planning (including Final Exercise)
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Field grade officer or civilian graduate of Intermediate Level School (ILS), School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW), or Top Level School (TLS), or
- Civilian with a Master’s or PhD in one of the following fields:
- Military History
- American, European, or Diplomatic History
- Strategic Studies
- International Relations
- Related disciplines
- Joint Operations (8904) and Operation Planning (8908):
- Must be a field grade officer or civilian who is an ILS, SAW, or TLS graduate
- Must complete the prescribed faculty development program to be certified as a CDET instructor
Desired Qualifications
- Education, operational background, and instructional experience consistent with the CDET seminar program or course they will instruct
- Master’s degree (for candidates meeting experience-based requirements)
- Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) designation or joint duty experience (for Joint Operations instruction)
- Experience with Socratic or seminar-based teaching methods
