Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager to monitor and provide annual reviews for an approximately $70 million commercial loan portfolio consisting of multifamily residential and commercial/industrial properties.

The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial-credit analysis, portfolio-management and risk-assessment experience and be comfortable working independently in a primarily remote environment. The engagement is expected to require 20–30 or more hours per week for at least six months.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the performance and overall credit quality of a $70 million commercial loan portfolio


• Complete timely and comprehensive annual credit reviews


• Analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls and property-operating statements


• Evaluate cash flow, debt-service coverage, loan-to-value and other relevant credit metrics


• Review covenant compliance and identify exceptions, emerging risks and deteriorating credit trends


• Maintain accurate risk ratings and recommend changes when supported by the credit analysis


• Assess the financial performance and collateral position of multifamily residential and commercial/industrial properties


• Prepare clear, well-supported credit memoranda and portfolio-review documentation


• Monitor maturities, renewals, reporting requirements and other portfolio deadlines


• Communicate findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders


• Support portfolio reporting, audits and other credit-related projects as needed

Must-Have Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing or reviewing a commercial loan portfolio


• Ability to monitor and complete annual reviews for an approximately $70 million portfolio


• Strong experience with multifamily residential and commercial/industrial real-estate loans


• Thorough understanding of commercial-credit analysis, underwriting and portfolio risk management


• Ability to analyze complex financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls and property cash flows


• Experience evaluating debt-service coverage, leverage, liquidity, collateral and covenant compliance


• Strong credit-writing, analytical and organizational skills


• Ability to work independently and manage multiple annual reviews and deadlines


• Availability for 20–30+ hours per week for a minimum six-month engagement

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with a bank, credit union or commercial lending institution


• Experience managing criticized or higher-risk credits


• Familiarity with regulatory and internal loan-review standards


• Ability to work onsite in Lowell, Massachusetts, on Thursdays
